Well, the Noreaster and low pressure associated with it dumped ALOT of rain. Norfolk international only recorded approximately 2.57 inches (which is a Record for this date), but as precipitation amounts can vary quite alot due to thunderstorm cells etc, we had quite alot more precip at my house. According to my little plastic rain gauge, we received approximately 6.5 inches of rain in a 24 hour period. To top it off, the pump station stopped working and the retention pond behind my house filled up ...probably close to 10 feet of extra water. Luckily my wife noticed the red light on and I called the number, and the got it working. I was worried that it would flood my poor house.
AND...we've had a leak on one of the walls, and supposedly it had been fixed...riiight. After approximately4 inches of rain, the water start flowing in through the same spot. So my wife and I spent quite a bit of time putting down towels and bowls to catch the water. What a pain in the ass.
That being said...6.5 inches of rain. WOW.
